Dear Data

In collaboration with Jordan Mickey

Dear Data was a year-long, analog data drawing project created by Giorgia Lupi and Stefanie Posavec. They are two award-winning information designers living on different sides of the Atlantic. This project consisted of them both collecting and hand drawing data that is personal to them and sending it to each other in the form of postcards.

Project Brief -
For this partner project, we were tasked to create our own Dear Data story over the span of three weeks. We created a total of three postcards each, and each card set was a collection of data over one week. For each week, we focused on the same topic but designed and tracked our data separately.

Deliverables -
Three hand-drawn postcards each that track multiple layers of data in a creative yet digestible way.

Challenges/Opportunities -
Creating data cards that display multiple levels of data without forming  “chart junk.” Also thinking of unique behaviors or variables to track within each weekly topic.

Takeaways -
I learned to avoi
d/be aware of “chart junk.”
